CAPITAL CAMPAIGN INTRODUCTION

When St. Pius X Parish was founded in 1957, you, its faithful members, have responded to its needs for support.   Your generosity can never be appreciated enough.

On December 24, 1988 the first Mass was celebrated in our new church.  On February 21, 2003 the Most Rev. David A Zubik dedicated the new addition to our church and school.  In the Fall of 2009, the mortgage for this new construction was burned.

Today we have another new challenge before us as our buildings age. Buildings today are designed for a 40-50 year usage; roofs have a 20 year life. With routine maintenance, structures will last much longer.  This has been done over the years, but due to recent financial constraints, we have not been able to maintain our facilities as needed. 

The carpeting in the Narthex and Sanctuary needs to be replaced.   Major renovations to the roofs and parking lots have to be made.  We should be budgeting $150,000 to $200,000 per year for this, but funds have not been included in previous year’s budgets.

Now that St Pius X parish is debt free, we do not want to borrow money for capital maintenance.  We feel that the best solution for the parish is to build up our Capital Maintenance Fund that will provide the funding needed for current projects and those that we will face in the future. 

A committee is preparing a booklet with details for this campaign, called UPDATE ST. PIUS X, to be mailed to you at the beginning of Lent.  A commitment Sunday is also being scheduled prior to Easter.
