Funeral Committee
This group of people are available to prepare and serve a meal if so desired to parish families at the time of the loss of a loved one. The committee is divided into teams which are called on to help for about four hours whenever it is their team’s turn. The team leader purchases and plans the meal. The team then prepares the food, sets up the dining area, serves the food and cleans up.
Picnic Co-Committee
This committee coordinates the meetings of the Joint Parish Tent Association, gathers new volunteers, coordinates and oversees the progress of the Picnic Committee. They meet January through June, including the parish picnic weekend which is the first weekend in June.
Volunteer Receptionists
These volunteers receive and direct visitors to the appropriate person. They answer and route all incoming phone calls and do light clerical jobs on an as-needed basis. The skills required are: pleasant phone manners, warm and friendly voice, helpful attitude, basic clerical skills, and the ability to interact with a variety of people and situations. The time required is three to four hours one day a week or every other week.
Men’s Society
The purpose of the Men’s Society is to unite the men of the parish who help to promote spiritual and material undertakings. These men are involved with various maintenance projects and help support other parish functions. They spread good will among the men of the parish and meet once a month to create fellowship.
Women’s Group
While no longer actively meeting, the Women’s Group sponsors the Woman of the Year Award, and the Sr. Mary Shawn Fagan ANG Appreciation Award.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The purpose of our ministry is to offer a symbol of God’s love and comfort through the gift of a prayer shawl. We knit or crochet a shawl or lap blanket to be given to people in our parish or community. As we knit, we pray for God’s blessings and love to be poured out to the recipient. The shawls are blessed and given to those in physical, spiritual, or emotional need of God’s loving embrace.
We have a prayer shawl request box located on the table near the elevator. If you know of anyone who could use this gift of healing, please fill out a form. You will be contacted to arrange delivery of a shawl to the intended person.
If you would like to join us in knitting shawls, we meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. Donations of yarn, 15 to 18 oz., of the same color are greatly appreciated.
St. Pius X Charitable Foundation, Inc.
The St. Pius X Charitable Foundation was established in the 1960s to serve the needs of St. Pius X Parish. The Foundation’s primary objective is to grow the assets of the foundation through endowment-type gifts from parishioners and/or their families. Such gifts are ideal as memorials for past and current parish families.
The various uses of the earnings from the endowment assets include promotion/support of vocations, seminars/training for parish staff, programs/speakers for adult education and specific needs of the parish. The funds in the Foundation are not used for day-to-day parish operations. If a parishioner is interested in the concept of endowment giving, contact the pastor or business manager at 733-0575.
Chapel of Divine Mercy
Through Perpetual Eucharist Adoration we respond to the Call of Jesus to “watch one hour” with Him. Each Holy Hour we make touches Christ’s Heart and releases a new outpouring of His Love upon the world. Just as the soft rays of the sun melt ice, so the sweet rays of grace of the Son of God melt the hearts of those who kneel before Him. Call 920-832-0909 to arrange a weekly Hour that fits your schedule.
Widows of Prayer
We are widows who have answered the Call of God to dedicate our lives in prayer for priests and other Church leaders. We are called an Association of the Faithful and are under the guidance of the Bishop.
When a widow becomes a candidate and follows the prayer regiment of the Widows of Prayer for one year, she is eligible to receive the insignia of the Widows of Prayer -- which is a gold heart with a chalice and host with rays emanating from it. At the top is a bar with a dove inscribed, depicting the Holy Spirit. She may repeat promises a second year, and when the third year approaches, she is invited to make final promises. Being a Widow of Prayer is a wonderful way of finding new purpose in life. As God takes us by the hand, we are led ever closer to Him. The Widows of Prayer is like a budding flower, with satellite communities branching out in other dioceses and states. For more information call 920-733-2652.
