The Jubilee was celebrated at the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday; September 15, 2007.
Special mention needs to be made in recognition of the countless hours of prayer and planning that allowed St. Pius to celebrate the Jubilee. Linda Bound brought us researched trivia questions each week for a year. Bob Klein designed the logo. Peggy Schwartz wrote our parish song, “Sing Out the Jubilee.” The Jubilee Core Committee of Mary Sullivan, Russ Thorson, Sue Brouillard, Susan Fassbender, Gail Heyrman, Veronica Morton, Sherry Farr, Ray Wick, Keith Preston, Gary Swartz, Miles Girouard, Mike Faucett, and Val Revnew prepared and planned for almost two years. Van Vehrs put together a CD of the St. Pius X School Song, and the Jubilee song, with talented parish members lending their voices. The Jubilee merchandise and the large entrance logo signs were purchased through Greg Christman, and John and Lisa Egan did an eye-catching job on the celebration signs. A directory was submitted to Olan Mills, and we are awaiting a delivery date.
Many activities were held this past year in anticipation of the Jubilee. Luncheons were held for former priests, sisters, and the founding members. A spaghetti dinner, Carol Jermstad’s cream puffs, the dunk tank proceeds, and generous donors have funded the Jubilee. The Jubilee prayer has been said at the Masses and distributed to Faith Formation, the Day School and in the bulletin. Fr. Tom and Deacon Rick were interviewed for Relevant Radio and The Compass, the Diocesan paper, is planning an article. All former pastors and associates were called by Mary Hultgren in hopes they would be able to concelebrate Mass, however, many had obligations at their present home parishes. We are grateful for all the prayers and wisdom they brought to our parish. There are many other names that could be mentioned, the list of thank yous is endless considering all the prayers, kind deeds, and donations that have happened over 50 Years of Faith and Service.
God Bless our parish!
