Music Ministries
Traditional Adult Choir Traditional, robed, four-voice choir (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) that sings traditional choral pieces. The choir sings approximately twice a month at the 8:30 Sunday mass (September through May). Also sings for Christmas and Easter
Rehearses Thursday evening from 7:15-8:45.
Kenaniah Adult Contemporary Choir Contemporary adult choir (3-4 voice; soprano, alto, tenor, bass) that sings contemporary choral music with keyboard and guitar accompaniment. The choir sings approximately twice a month at the 10:30 am, Sunday morning mass. In addition, this choir sings at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, Tenebrae, and First Communion.
Rehearses Thursday evening, 6:15-7:30 p.m.
Praise Ensemble
The Praise Ensemble is a contemporary choir which sings at one 4:00 p.m. Mass per month.
Rehearses immediately before Mass.
Resurrection (Funeral) Choir Adult choir that sings at funerals when requested. To participate, one must be available during mornings, as most funerals are scheduled for either 11:00 or 11:30 am.
Singing Angels Children's choir open to school age children in grades 3-5. Open to both parochial and public school children. This choir sings approximately once every 6 weeks at a 10:30 am Sunday mass. In addition, they sing for Christmas, First Communion, and Mother’s Day.
The choir rehearses October through April, from 3:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Public school children who are dismissed later than 3:15 can still participate if they come to rehearsal right from school.
Youth Mass Choir Middle and High School youth who are interested in singing for the Youth Mass Liturgies, which are the 3rd Sunday of the month at the 6:00 p.m. Sunday night mass (October through May)/ Rehearsals are Thursday evenings, 7:30-9:00 p.m. in the church. Living Stones (our "in-house" organization) leads this liturgy.
Cantor (song leader) Confident individual with vocal ability who leads the assembly in song at liturgies. Requires adequate vocal ability and leadership skills. Ability to read music a plus. The role of the cantor is to successfully lead the assembly in meaningful worship through his/her voice, physical presence and leadership skills.
Accompanist Musician (pianist or organist) who provides all the music for liturgies; they support the cantor or choir and lead the assembly in song. Requires music reading ability, accompanying and leadership skills. Sight reading and the ability to chord music is a plus.
Instrumentalist Other instrumentalists (flutists, trumpeters, guitarists, percussionists, etc.) who add their special musical tough to the singing of choirs or the assembly.
