Ministry of Hospitality

Ministers of Hospitality form two groups:

Greeters and Ushers

Greeters are present at the doors of church to welcome those who are coming to worship with us. Greeters may be asked to direct people to restrooms, coat racks, or other parts of the building. They arrive early so as to be ready at the doors when people begin gathering, usually 15 minutes before Mass time. Greeters may request scheduling for a certain Mass time, and lists of substitutes are published with the schedule in case conflicts arise.

Ushers serve as Ministers of Hospitality inside the worship space. They may be asked to direct people to restrooms and telephones. Ushers assist people in finding seats and urge people to make room when necessary. They also take up the collection during the preparation of the gifts. Ushers direct the flow of traffic during the communion procession. They hand out bulletins and straighten up church after Mass. Ushers work in teams of three or four.
