Completed Capital Projects
During the past few years the parish has managed to complete several projects that have enhanced our property. These projects were completed through the generosity of parishioners with private donations and second collections. We again want to thank you for the generous contributions. You have stepped up when you have been asked and for that we are grateful.
In 2009, the Sanctuary and Chapel Ceilings were cleaned and stained at a cost of over $30,000. Funds were provided by second collections for this project.
In 2010, a new St. Pius X sign was erected along Marquette Street. This sign allows the Mass hours to be displayed. The St. Pius X name was also back lit. The landscaping around the sign was redone. The cost for this project was $11, 921. Funds were provided by second collections and private donations.
In the fall of 2011, the chapel skylight, which has leaked periodically since its construction, was removed. This was accomplished by volunteers from the Building and Grounds Committee. The use of the scaffolding was donated by Boldt and the staining of the wood was donated by Jim Springstroh (Jim’s Painting). Funds for materials only were taken from the general maintenance fund. The cost for this project was under $1,500. It would have cost St. Pius X at least $12,000 if the project was bid out.
The parish has limited funds to maintain its property. These have been managed well, however, we have reached a point where we can no longer defer improvements. The future projects are much more expensive. Since we do not want to go into debt, it is necessary to start a new capital campaign for maintenance projects.
Next month you will receive a Campaign Booklet, titled UPDATE ST. PIUS X, with project costs and details. There will be listening sessions in March at which you can get more information and express your thoughts about the projects.
Additional information regarding the projects will be available on the parish website. Be sure to look for this at

God bless all of you.
